5 steps to reading labels

Serving Size This number is at the top for a reason: The nutritional information on the rest of the label applies to one serving. The FDA sets serving sizes for all foods―they are measurements, not recommendations. Total calories are calculated per serving, as are total calories from fat, so be sure to look at the servings per container. A bag of potato chips might say it has 150 calories per serving, but the entire bag might be three servings, or 450 calories. Percent of Daily Value This is calculated for a moderately active woman, or a fairly sedentary man, who eats 2,000 calories a day. (Highly active women, moderately active men, and growing teen boys may need closer to 2,500 calories a day.) A serving of Cheerios with ½ cup of skim milk gives the average adult just 3 percent of the daily value of fat intake and 11 percent of the daily value of fiber intake recommended by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Fat More important than total fat are the numbers for saturated, polyunsaturated, monounsaturated, and trans fats. You want to see that the food contains relatively little saturated fat and trans fat, and relatively more polyunsaturated and monounsaturated. Keep in mind that "fat-free" doesn't equal "calorie-free." Many fat-free and low-fat foods have added sugar. Cholesterol This is a fatlike chemical that's an essential component of cell membranes, a covering for nerve-cell fibers, and a building block of hormones. Only animal products contain cholesterol. Adults are advised to limit their daily intake to 300 milligrams. Too much can elevate your blood cholesterol, raising your heart-disease risk. Sodium The recommended daily limit for an average adult is 2,300 milligrams; too much sodium can cause high blood pressure. By the USDA's reckoning, a food is low in sodium if it contains no more than 140 milligrams. (A serving of Cheerios has 210 milligrams and is therefore not low in sodium.) A single serving of soup or a frozen dinner may contain 1,000 milligrams or more of sodium, which is nearly half the daily limit.

Hey everyone, I've been looking into cognitive enhancing supplements as of late that are of natural (plant based) I've been doing some research and game across Ginkgo and Gaba. I did quite a bit of research and thought it would be worth the try sense they are rather cheap. Ginkgo increases blood flow to the brain and helps with cognitive function because it allows for more oxygen to flow to the brain. Gaba is a neurotransmitter which helps with focus. I bought both and will be doing a daily log of how things are going and effects it has had for me.

no carb diets stupid

No carb diets are probably the dumbest thing you can do to your body. If you don't eat carbs, and you exercise your body will then use protein for energy and your gains will atrophy. The carbs are burned for energy so they should be consumed through out the day, So they will be burned. After your done with your daily activities cut back on high carb foods. This is why it's good to eat 6 small meals instead of 3 large meals. Your body isn't meant to digest a ton of crab at once, but if you evenly distribute your proteins, vitamins ect. Your body will tolerate it much better. And overall you will just flat out feel better. Skipping meals is stupid!! NEVER SKIP MEALS! AND I mean NEVER. If you don't have anything in your body to workout, you wont see any gains. You are starving your body and your workout wont be as good and you will feel like shit. Your body needs nutrients. If your body doesn't have the nutrients then your body will go into starvation mode and will hold fat. Keep this in mind at all times. Thanks.

my dream of traveling to iceland

I have always wanted to go to Iceland and I think it would be even better if I were able to do a photo shoot there! As a college student and paying for school and costs of living it's hard to be able to achieve this goal in a reasonable time. SO I'm starting a fund that will help me make this dream an reality! Anything helps even if it's just a dollar whatever is fine. Once I receive the funding for the trip through hard work and dedication as well as any fans or anyone who donates, I will do a daily update of photos and blog of my time there. I think this trip would be a memory to remember and the photos that the photographer and I get will capture great beauty! Once again thanks for anyone that contributes it means a lot to me! I hope everyone continues to follow my journey.
Thanks.

5 simple steps to burn calories and looking slim

1. Studies have shown that eating spicy foods can actually rev up your metabolic rate and cause more calories to be burned. So the next time you want to go out for Indian food, order spicy!

2. If you can eat small snacks like nuts, fruits, and veggies throughout the day, it will boost your metabolism and actually help you burn more calories.

3.  Walking is one of the most simple ways to burn some extra calories in our everyday lives. It's suggested that you spend at least 30 minutes everyday walking or doing some kind of exercise that keeps you moving!

4. A study showed that people who are deficient in vitamin D lost weight more slowly than those who had sufficient amounts in their systems. So start taking those vitamins!

5. People need sleep! If you don't get enough sleep, especially over long periods of time, the body's metabolism slows down (which means it's harder to burn calories). So make sure to treat yourself to a couple extra hours of sleep! (Most people should have between 7-9 hours a night).

Take advantage of these five easy steps to burning calories, Learn to rule your body with an iron fist! Take control of your life and what you can control. (eating habits, working out.)

negatives of caffeine

caffeine is a stimulus for the vagal receptors at the stomach, causing the sphincter muscles to work more and eventually become weakened. This allows acid reflux and can irritate the esophagus making it hard to swallow and bringing pain. It also increases acid secretion and if the lining of the stomach is weakened by some drugs and smoking etc , it can lead to peptic ulcers.

Life

It's truly amazing how many people go around accusing, assuming, and attacking others based on their own interpretations and not by what or who the person really is and or does! So many people seem to have such an issue with everything everyone else does, but they never take time to look at themselves and critic their own actions, thoughts, and feelings! Wouldn't it be amazing if people would worry about themselves, and stopped going around trying to make everyone else believe, think, and feel as they do (as if they are some God send to us all, and know the only way there is to find inner peace even though they themselves lack it)! So in other words worry about your freaking self, and stop assuming you know me or anyone for that matter! Maybe if we all started to worry about ourselves and leading by example (not just talking about it, and acting like we are), then others would follow too and we could begin to create the peace most of us seek. The only way peace will ever exist is once we start to worry about changing ourselves for the better, and then we can begin to change the world for the better by working together.

Completed a photo shoot down In Tampa Bay Florida over the new years weekend. It was a ton of fun and I definitely had a blast. The weather was decent 60 degrees and 70 the next. The weather where I'm from was snowing and in the 20s so I could not argue with that at all. We got some great work done and some very cool footage! I can't wait to post and show you guys. It was a fantastic time. Hope everyone is focusing on their new years goals for 2013. Stay focused and keep your eye on the prize!
